The Big Idea

Folly by definition is a foolish action or idea, the word absurdity and phrase "lack of sense" seem to continually arise. But what would life be like without these follies? Why not embrace these ideas and get a little nutty! This is my journal for those adventures, and along the way I hope to meet new people, take the path less traveled, have some fun, and spread the story of this sustainable journey we call life! Here you’ll find short anecdotes about my life, links to enlightenment, and opinions on how to have fun! I would love to hear about your folly, so feel free to e-mail me, I might just post them, and thanks for visiting!

Day 22 June 15th

Day 22 June 15th

Today my mom and I headed to Napa Valley to relax and enjoy some wine. We had planned on renting her a bike and biking up the Silverado Trail which snakes its way through Napa’s vineyards, but instead, at the last minute we decided to take a trip on the Wine Train.

This train takes the same route we had planned on biking but in style. The train travels the whole 32 miles of the Napa valley nice and slowly, allowing passengers to take in all the beauty the vineyards have to offer.

Also, and our favorite part of the trip, was a 4 course gourmet meal. We started the trip off with a wine tasting, and quickly were whisked away by the moving train. Once seated, we were served hourdervs of olives, cheese, smoked salmon and prosciutto, as we lazily made our way north. Then the salad came with gorgonzola cheese and candied walnuts, which were delicious! For the main course I had grilled salmon over vegetables, and pasta covered in a white wine cream sauce, it was amazing!! Mom had beef tenderloin with all the fixings. Lastly was dessert, I of course had the tiramisu, and mom had the crembrule, both of which were great!

We coasted back into town, both full and completely relaxed, and headed over to check in at the Hilton. The rest of the day we just lounged, we laid by the pool, went to a movie, and just took it easy. What a great day!! If you’re ever in Napa, ride the Wine Train, it was great!
