The Big Idea

Folly by definition is a foolish action or idea, the word absurdity and phrase "lack of sense" seem to continually arise. But what would life be like without these follies? Why not embrace these ideas and get a little nutty! This is my journal for those adventures, and along the way I hope to meet new people, take the path less traveled, have some fun, and spread the story of this sustainable journey we call life! Here you’ll find short anecdotes about my life, links to enlightenment, and opinions on how to have fun! I would love to hear about your folly, so feel free to e-mail me, I might just post them, and thanks for visiting!

Day 12 June 5th

Day 12 June 5th

Stats: 58.26 Miles, 6:06 Hours, 9.5 MPH Average, 30.5 MPH Top Speed, Rain and low 40’s.

We woke up this morning disappointed that the rain was back. I had gotten up at 4:30 because nature called, and the skies were still clear, but by 7 when we actually got up the gray, cold, and wet weather was back. We hung our heads low, said bye to Dean and Laurie, and hit the road. The wet morning started with the 7 hills of 7 Devils Road.

By lunch we were tired and wet. We ate in Bandon, and then headed back out into the chilly windy day.

By late afternoon the rain had intensified and we just hoped the campsite appeared around every corner. Finally we made it too our deserted camp grounds where we quickly pitched our tent under a tree and headed off to the hot showers. They took a while to get hot, but once they were there it felt so good! 60 miles in the cold windy rain was hard, but the shelter and warm water made us feel great. We ended up cooking hot dogs and cup-o-soup in the bathrooms, ate quickly, and fell right asleep with dreams of sunshine in our minds.
