The Big Idea

Folly by definition is a foolish action or idea, the word absurdity and phrase "lack of sense" seem to continually arise. But what would life be like without these follies? Why not embrace these ideas and get a little nutty! This is my journal for those adventures, and along the way I hope to meet new people, take the path less traveled, have some fun, and spread the story of this sustainable journey we call life! Here you’ll find short anecdotes about my life, links to enlightenment, and opinions on how to have fun! I would love to hear about your folly, so feel free to e-mail me, I might just post them, and thanks for visiting!

Day 13 June 6th

Day 13 June 6th

Stats: 85.86 Miles, 7:55 Hours, 10.8 MPH Average, 39.4 MPH Top Speed, High 60’s and sunny!!!

The day started off wet. We were rained on all night in our lonely campgrounds, and thought we were headed for another long wet day.

However, within a few miles the sun was shining and our smiles were back.

We rolled past some large dinosaurs, across Oregon’s highest bridge, and into sunny California, Molly even got to talk to her sister while we ate Subway.

It was funny, we kept saying that as soon as we get to California we would have sunshine, and now that we're in California, as far as we can see looks like sunny days ahead. Once in California we kept biking, there was a bit of a tail wind and we wanted to take full advantage of the luck. We headed into the Redwoods National Forest, and found our campgrounds. We rode 85 miles and almost crested that illusive eight hour mark. After a quick dinner and a hot shower we headed to our tiny fabric mobile home and instantly passed out.

  1. I only just started reading the blog, but I love all the pictures!

My favorite so far is of Molly on your shoulders at the California border. Did someone stop to take that for you?
