The Big Idea

Folly by definition is a foolish action or idea, the word absurdity and phrase "lack of sense" seem to continually arise. But what would life be like without these follies? Why not embrace these ideas and get a little nutty! This is my journal for those adventures, and along the way I hope to meet new people, take the path less traveled, have some fun, and spread the story of this sustainable journey we call life! Here you’ll find short anecdotes about my life, links to enlightenment, and opinions on how to have fun! I would love to hear about your folly, so feel free to e-mail me, I might just post them, and thanks for visiting!

Day 17 June 10th

Day 17 June 10th

Stats: 69.09 Miles, 6:22 Hours, 10.8 MPH Average, 45 MPH Top Speed, 70’s and sunny!!

Today we started the day with a short ride into town where Molly and I got breakfast at a little grocery and sat back and studied the guide book. Here is molly awe struck at the elevation profiles again!

The day had a ton of hills, but we had sunshine and a heavy tailwind. We rode south on Highway 1 which was amazing, the road dropped straight off into the ocean the whole way.

The day was pretty uneventful other than almost being attacked by a rabid raccoon at lunch, and then close to the end of the day when we ran into another biker headed north who cautioned us about some oil on the ground a few miles ahead. So we kept a trained eye out in front of us around every corner expecting to see a small oil spot to avoid, when in actuality there was an overturned cement truck that had leaked oil all over the road. There were police directing traffic, so we couldn’t really miss it, and laughed that we were warned about the oil spill and not the giant truck blocking the road.

The rest of the day flowed by and we arrived in Bodega Sand Dunes to find sandy camp spots and free hot showers!! Oh yeah, we broke 1000 miles!!
