The Big Idea

Folly by definition is a foolish action or idea, the word absurdity and phrase "lack of sense" seem to continually arise. But what would life be like without these follies? Why not embrace these ideas and get a little nutty! This is my journal for those adventures, and along the way I hope to meet new people, take the path less traveled, have some fun, and spread the story of this sustainable journey we call life! Here you’ll find short anecdotes about my life, links to enlightenment, and opinions on how to have fun! I would love to hear about your folly, so feel free to e-mail me, I might just post them, and thanks for visiting!

What a weekend!!

Well the marathon has come and gone! We braved the 3 am wake up call, the sub 30 degree temps and all the other mental signals that were saying this was a nutty idea to go run 26 miles down the canyon. But we all finished, and with good times. Jude, Paul and I were first timers testing the marathon waters, and I gotta say, I think I am hooked. I finished with an official time of 3:36:03, which was awesome for me, and I felt great. I managed not to have to walk at all, and crossed the finish line with a huge smile! The 5 months of re-learning how to run, sore legs, and healthy eating have paid off, and I have to say I am glad they are behind me. Although I am looking forward to the next race I am going to find more time to do all the other hobbies I love that I neglected for the past few months.

What a great day for a race too, once the sun came up the temps rose, and the crowds fled onto the course. It was an amazing experience, thanks Fort Collins for all the support!!

The Champs in the finishers circle!!

We had a fan club full of cheerleaders at mile 22! Everyone was still going strong.

My friend Vicky from back home in Chicago also decided to leave the urban landscape of the big city for the weekend and grace our little town with her presence. She is one of my best friends and it was rad to have her out here for a weekend, especially the marathon weekend! We managed to get a little hiking in, some sand volleyball, and even few adult beverages! I love when she comes out here and I'm even trying to get her to get her butt out here for some more grad school.
